Our only disappointment is that Park services have allowed the campground to become very rundown. Picnic tables are a disgrace - they are in disrepair broken and with exposed nails and badly in need of paint. Fireplaces were a small stove type that again were mostly broken. The site roadways themselves are uneven and full of ruts and holes and many could use leveling and new gravel.
We did seem to find that the worst areas were the ones with full service. The sites were overall looking warn! It would be nice to see the Park close some areas thru a rotation and do some upgrading! Jasper has some of the most beautiful scenic areas in the world and we have many visitors here from around the world. We want to show our visitors some pride by keeping our Parks well maintained.

I have been following you for a while and have found you to be very inspirational.
Map of Pocahontas Campground Best suited for tenting, and motorhomes and trailers under 27 feet. Have you ever been to Glacier. With the winter weather this campground was very quiet. The campsites are short and narrow "shoulder-side-pulloff" type widely scattered around 6 narrow one way roads along the hillside. Review tags are currently jasper alberta hookup available for English language reviews. The lot is very sloped so leveling is a challenge. Map of Wapiti Campground Can accommodate most sizes of motorhomes and trailers. This post took me back to our stay at Whistlers jasper alberta hookup our way to Alaska in Guests 1 room2 adults0 children Guests 1 2. We were lucky to find a spot that was level since the lot does slope. Road rather narrow for 40' motor home with toad but passable. Have fun, safe travels.
I have recently retired and am considering RV life as opposed to a second home, although I am not blessed with a significant other to share my adventures with. My three doggies will be my companions! Jason, you seemed so distraught when your windshield was damaged, I felt your pain! I hope it was an easy fix!! Nicki, love your hairstyle and wish I could pull it off!
Picture perfect travel report. Like the report on the road conditions. If I have a Ohio boat license for both my inflatable kayaks Advanced Elements do I need to purchase new licenses for Canada or their national parks? This post took me back to our stay at Whistlers on our way to Alaska in We came back to our campsite one day to find several elk laying around in one of the empty sites in our loop. They stayed around long enough for me to get some photos and then wandered off. Congratulations on your ninth. They all are, but this one may be extra special. Is that Canadian for bonus or is it aboot something entirely different, eh?
Staying in Ft St John tonight.
On to Jasper town tomorrow. Well, next time eh? When I lived in Canada, the roads were lined with thick groves of beautiful trees, to hide the miles of tree clear-cutting on the other side. Last and first visited Jasper in after securing a college apartment to attend the University of Idaho.
My travel bud and I hiked the Athabasca Trail — 33 miles in three days, 16 above timberline. We were whooped pups at the end of that hike, especially knees on the downhill slog. But what a spectacular, mind-numbing experience it was. Living in the pacific northwest ever since, I am blessed with so much to see and do that one needs more than a lifetime to do it all. Hearing about your adventures is a little vicarious reminder of how spectacular and wondrous these places are.
If you can, treat yourself to several days on a small boat along the southeast Alaska coast. Have fun, safe travels. Spacing between sites was very good. Electric, water, sewer all worked well.
We had good Verizon reception, but no DishTV satellite reception. All of Whistlers campground will closed in for reconstruction. The campgrounds in Jasper and Banff National Parks are quite popular so reservations should be made well in advance of your stay. We actually looked at this campground to use with our 30' 5th wheel but chickened out and thought we would report our observations anyway. There is a VERY popular hiking trailhead at the foot of the CG access road that can reduce this part of the road to a single lane at times.
The campsites are short and narrow "shoulder-side-pulloff" type widely scattered around 6 narrow one way roads along the hillside. There is a water fill with threaded faucet and dump station along the exit road at the foot of the hill and we saw 2 other threaded water points scattered in the campground. The CG also had a couple of vault toilets and an open kitchen structure. No cell service, no off air TV just a scenic National Forest type campground.
The park service recommends a 27' maximum length and we saw only one site that was as long as 34', tree-to-tree. Given the narrow interior CG roads and limited parking space , we thought it would be all but impossible to parallel park a 27' towable with slideouts on any site. Flush toilets and free WiFi with chit from the Jasper National Park desk available at the Icefields visitors center 2 miles north.
The lot is very sloped so leveling is a challenge. Its value is its location, right in the middle of the Icefields Parkway. And the views are amazing.
